Edson is the Director /CEO of Encounter Africa Safaris Ltd and boost of more than ten years working experience in the Tourism Industry. He did his industrial training with Uganda Musuem, Conducted Research with Uganda Wildlife Authority before joining  Stebar Safaris and then Wild Frontiers and Uganda Exclusive Camps and Lodges as Safari Manager and Lead Safari Consultant for a combined 8 years. During this period, Edson acquired a lot skills and expertise that later resulted into starting Encounter Africa Safaris.

Edson understands what it means to get an internship placement opportunity with Uganda Tour Companies. During his time at University, he failed to get space/placement to train with a tour company and that’s how he ended up doing his internship training with Uganda Museum.  When he started Encounter Africa Safaris, one of his major calling was to train as many students by providing internship opportunities. Since the inception of Encounter Africa Safaris, over 50 students mainly from Makerere University and Nkumba university have been successfully trained by Encounter Africa Safaris. In order to increase on the number of trainees each year, Encounter Africa Safaris decided to work with Friends of Uganda Tourism to introduce a project that will enable us admit a sizable number of interns every year. We are glad that the facilities at our disposal can accommodate 40 interns.

After realizing what University students (mostly tourism students) go through while looking for internship training, Edson together with his friends formed this initiative called FRIENDS OF UGANDA TOURISM. The aim of this project is to provide voluntary training to Tourism students every time there is a training window. Our Team comprises of Tour Company Directors,  Field Guides and IT Specialist who are willing to share they expertise and skills with students during their internship
